THE DO OVER
I hope everyone is at least trying to resolve their issues with the exercise for javascript we attempted last evening.
Several issues appeared last night and we will discuss them in class on Wednesday before we start with the midterm project expectations.
When i am lecturing at the beginning of class for something technical in the future, there will be no access to phones, the internet or any other media until i ask you to follow along with the exercise. I let everyone work at their own pace last night and many had difficulty because they either did not understand the directions or were not paying attention to the initial lecture regarding libraries, PATH, & webservers. This is all basic information you ALL need to have even if web design is not ultimately your goal for a career trajectory.
Everyone for the most part did VERY well on the moodboard assignments and has been really great on the blog about responding to ideas and designs and have presented things they would like to learn more about. That being said the faculty requires that every student in the DMD program have some exposure to coding [even at a very basic level] and in web design the basics of javascript are essential. So i want everyone to take a deep breath, CLOSE ALL your other applications and we are going to have a DO OVER.
You remember DO OVERS don't you?
When something you wanted to happen does not turn out the way you hope but you really want to succeed in it you call for a DO OVER.
So Wednesday be prepared to
1.) Install and Configure a basic webserver that will help us later when we start with CSS and is crucial basic knowledge for web designers
INSTALL MAMP.
2.) Download the threejs.zip file
And we will
1.) Get the cube to show up.
2.) put a texture [material on that cube] using ATOM
once this is done we are going to review all the things you need to be aware of as we proceed forward.
1.) Basics of a private WebServer [MAMP]
2.) Preparing for CSS
3.) Basic of PATH and resource management
4.) Basics of IXD on Webpages [Interaction]
I was joking about following what i say to the letter, but the real point is that in CODING, html, js, CSS everything matters and ANY little thing you think won;t make a difference will make your web design fail and we do not want that!
DEEP BREATHS
DO OVER TIME
We will get through this
