"Is there love in the telematic embrace" (p.s sorry for posting so late, I accidentally did not click publish.)

The article by Roy Ascott, "Is there love in the telematic embrace," had an interesting viewpoint on how technology has changed communication. What I interpreted from this article is that expresses the change/ the shift, we have in communication, art, and expression. This article was writing in the rise of technology; technology was in its infancy stage so it was all still very new. I find it fascinating to go back and read articles, such as this, to see how people saw the world in that time. Technology now is so common and we cannot imagine life without it. But for someone in the 90s, they see it as a whole new world. I like that quote Ascott adds, "the parallel shift in art of the status of "observer" to that of a "participator." The world now we are participators, we are the consumers and the producers; we now can be more actively involved in the decisions we make and the connections we create.

I am happy that we have facetime, texting and cellphones. My family lives so far away from and I can see them in instant. The "Love" you feel in a telematic embrace is of course different than how you feel it face to face, but there still is love and excitment. I get to see my family face to face once or twice a year, but because of technology I am able to communicate to them on a daily or weekly bases.
