Black Mirror

Black Mirror is like a whole different life than what it is now social media wise. Social media takes up all of these characters life in how they go about daily activities, their credit scores, their self esteem and even in the work environment. The main character Lacie depends on these ratings on her photos/posts to determine who she is as a person. She started cooking and doing different things that she never did before just to get more ratings. She did this so she could get in touch with Naomi again to get her ratings up so she can get her credit score up so she can get the house she wanted. In doing so, Naomi asks Lacie to be her maid of honor. The ranking system changes Lacie because before she was authentic and now she's just using people to be more popular and she feels like she's looked at as less than everyone around her. As the episode goes on, her ranking keeps going down because people keep rating her less and that effects her life because she can't book her plane ticket, she cant rent a nice car and she probably won't be able to get the house that he put a down payment for because her rating is less than the required one. The rating system screws everything up in her life because she is left alone and her "friend" said she could get her a replacement and along the way her rating keeps going down. Then a truck driver who's rated a 1.4 offers her a ride and she had the audacity to say no even though she needs a ride but the 1.4 insists and she gets in the truck. Everything you do and say is being looked at by everyone and rated and you have to conform to be what people want in order to keep your ranking so really you're not living an authentic life and you're not living your own life. The lady who is a 1.4 is telling her she used to be a 4.6 and how she lived for that rating but she sprung "cancer" talk because her husband had cancer and she 5 starred every doctor, nurse, consultant thinking the cancer would go away and they would do something extra for her husband but nothing worked. When he died, she started to live life. She said what she wanted, did what she wanted and didn't care what she got rated and didn't care that she lost friends because for once she felt free and good.
